British alternative rock superstars The Cure have been around since 1978. That's FORTY FIVE years! Only Robert Smith is still in the band since the very beginning, but they also have Simon Gallup currently in the group, and he's been there since 1979. The Cure is still active and touring, and they occasionally release new music. One of the most loved and enduring alternative bands from the 80s that lasted several decades beyond their peak! Are they goth? Synth pop? Rock? Post-punk? Alternative? New wave? Yes to all of the above! And the band recently played New Orleans (again...they seem to love it down here). The show was, as always, amazing!

In 1989, The Cure released what is considered one of the best, if not THE best, album of their career; and called it 'Disintegration'. It gave the world several hits: "Lovesong", "Lullaby", "Pictures of You", and the trippy and psychedelic "Fascination Street". Even the non-hit  deep cuts are great! 'Rolling Stone' magazine has it on their list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. (At number 116!)

Fiction Records released this alternative and goth masterpiece on vinyl and cassette, in 1989. The label also created a true fan collectible, and released it on a picture disc LP! Only a limited number were made, which is why copies go for big buck$! That pretty much sets the prices for picture discs. How rare they are, whether they come in their original jackets or sleeves, and the condition they are in.

Up for grabs today is a copy of that rare and scarce Cure album, on a 12" picture disc LP! It comes with its original PVC jacket. (When the vinyl is placed a certain way, Robert Smith can be seen peeking out from the flowers. It's actually really, really cool!) Now for the flaws: the jacket, though intact, is split on two sides. Tried to photograph that, but it's a little hard to see. The vinyl fits really snug in there, and most of these that I've seen since it's release all got split. But nothing a little glue can't fix! (I'll leave that up to the buyer.) And the vinyl itself looks great, with a couple of light surface marks on one side. Hardly noticable, and nothing too bad. (But with that said, I cannot vouch for the sound quality, as I never play specialty vinyl such as pic discs or colored records.) No heavy scratches, gouges, or scuffs that I can see under a bright light!

The perfect gift idea for that Cure fan in your life! Cure collectibles are really cool, and get more and more valuable over time. People who collect vintage picture discs are always on the look-out for this one, as it's so scarce. Yes, there's a few here on eBay, but check out the prices. You might want to grab this copy, before it's too late, and while you still can! At this price, it won't be around long...
