Australian music legends AC/DC began rocking over FIFTY years ago, in 1973. By 1980, they were one of the biggest bands in the world, when they released 'Back in Black'. That album is the SECOND biggest selling album of all time (behind the biggest, Michael Jackson's 'Thriller')! The band had to follow-up such a big hit with something special. They did, in 1981, and the album is called 'For Those About to Rock'. It was produced by 'Back in Black' producer Mutt Lange, and it features a gold album cover, with a cannon. Trust me, for the tour of this album, and many years after, there was a cannon hanging in the air, going off during the title track!
Up for grabs today is a THREE pack of vintage 80s rock albums, featuring AC/DC, Rush, and Zebra! 'For Those About to Rock' is being sold for the jacket, as it's the first edition, with the raised lettering, and the gatefold. The vinyl itself looks really rough, and even with a good cleaning, is not recommended to play. Jacket looks pretty good, but needs to be glued on the right side of the top of the gatefold (the side with the vinyl). Some shelf-wear on the corners and spine.
Next up is Canadian superstars Rush, and their 1987 album called 'Hold Your Fire'. The artwork is great, as it's minimalistic and colorful. Bright red background, the band's name and album title, and three red balls and their shadows...that's it! The back is pretty simple, too; as it's the song titles and producer credit (Peter Collins, who produced several Rush albums, as well as Queensryche, Alice Cooper, Gary Moore, Indigo Girls, and many others). Inside sleeve is the lyrics on one side, and the artwork of the fireball juggling man on the reverse side. The vinyl itself doesn't look too bad, with only a couple of very light surface marks on it. No heavy scratches, gouges, or scuffs. Jacket has shelf-wear, as a lot of records do from this long ago.
Last we have Louisiana's own, a band called Zebra, and their second album titled 'No Tellin Lies'. It's on Atlantic like AC/DC, and it's actually a really good album! The cover is wild, and is a Zebra chess piece, on a chess board. The back is song titles, credits, thanks, and band pics. Zebra has been together since the 70s, recording since the 80s, and still occasionally tours! This too has light surface marks on it, and like the other two, are being sold for the artwork. Each of these three releases have remastered reissues on CD, which I have, so I never worried about the actual vinyl. Zebra's front cover looks really good, but the back cover has some damage (looks like it was cut in a spot or two). See pics for closeups.
If you're into 80s rock album artwork, then snatch this three pack soon. Vinyl album's artwork is hot in the 2020s, and each new generation seems to discover the classics...but those of us who were there in the 80s will always love the bands that helped make it one of the best decades of all time for music!
