British pop superstars Duran Duran formed in 1978, but it wasn't until 1981 that the classic lineup released their first album. That self titled debut gave us the hits "Planet Earth" and "Girls On Film". The band (minus Andy Taylor) released their latest album, titled 'Danse Macabre', last year, in 2023. Duran Duran was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in 2022. A band that has transcended genres of music, and has certainly lasted the test of time!
For your consideration, we have today, a triple shot of Duran Duran side projects, and all on 12" vinyl singles! First up is Andy Taylor. Taylor guested on albums by Robert Palmer (that's his guitar work on "Addicted to Love"), and Belinda Carlisle's song "Mad About You". He was, of course, the guitarist in the Power Station. And Andy Taylor had songs on a few movie soundtracks. He's represented here with a song from the 'American Anthem' soundtrack, and a great song called "Take It Easy"! Andy Taylor has prostate cancer, which is uncurable, but not life threatening at this time. We wish him the best, and hope he's around for many, many more years!
Next up is the bassist from Duran Duran, John Taylor, and another soundtrack song. This one is from the movie '9-1/2 Weeks', and the extended club mix of "I Do What I Do"! Who knew that John could sing? (Hardcore fans knew. John Taylor was actually the very first singer AND guitar player of Duran Duran!)
Last, we have a 12" maxi single from Arcadia, who was the other three Duran Duran guys, (minus John Taylor and Andy Taylor). This is the release BEFORE the Arcadia album came out, to get people interested in the upcoming LP. The big hit from Arcadia's one and only album is titled "Election Day", and this is the maxi-single of that great song, with a couple of mixes on it. Grace Jones does her thing, and will send shivers down your spine! There's an extended remix, the album version (or single mix), and a third song titled "She's Moody and Grey, She's Mean and She's Restless", (which is a line from the song)!
All three are gently used, but still look great. Taylor's song is the single version, on both sides (so DJs didn't screw up and play the wrong song!). From 1986. Promo copy. Co-written with Steve Jones (guitarist of the Sex Pistols). Vinyl looks great, and there's no scratches, gouges, or scuffs that I see. Jacket has some shelf-wear, but nothing too bad, and has a small cut-out notch mark on it. John Taylor's song is also the same on both sides, but the extended club mix, clocking in at a little over EIGHT minutes long! Jacket has substantial shelf-wear on it, with a sticker saying it's 45 RPMs. The vinyl looks really good, with no scratches, gouges, or scuffs that I see. And Arcadia's 12" looks awesome, and is still all shiny and clean, with the jacket also looking fantastic. (Jacket has a gold promo stamp on top right corner.)
Grab this sweet triple shot three pack of Duran Duran side projects, featuring solo Andy Taylor, solo John Taylor, and Arcadia (the other three), available now, and at a nice price!
