British alternative, dance, pop, and electronic pioneers New Order released a greatest hits compilation in 1987 called 'Substance' (or 'Substance '87'). The album version is two records, with a total of 12 tracks, but the CD version doubles the songs, with 24 tracks. It features a few new songs, one of which is an awesome 80s dance and pop gem called "True Faith".
"True Faith" was released as a 7" single, 12" maxi-single, and a couple of other formats. The 12" version features two mixes of "True Faith", the 'Morning Sun Extended Remix', and the 'Alternate Faith Dub', plus the song "1963", (which was another new song added to 'Substance', and the original B side of "True Faith").
In today's great deal, you'll get a copy of that 1987 release of "True Faith", on 12", and the original picture sleeve! This is one of the first editions of this great song, and it considered to be one of New Order's best tracks! I'll also sweeten the pot, so to speak, by adding another New Order 12"!
FORTY years ago, in 1984, New Order released a single that was recorded around the time of their album 'Power, Corruption, & Lies', but didn't make it onto the album. (It was, however, added to the collector's edition reissue in 2008.) It was added to the 'Substance' album. This is the 12" single, with "Thieves Like Us" on the A side, and "Lonesome Tonight" on the B side.
I'll also kick in, as a special bonus, a 12" from the band Electronic, which was an alternative supergroup with New Order's singer Bernard Sumner, The Smith's guitarist Johnny Marr, and the Pet Shop Boys. (Pet Shop Boys in the early days, then they worked with Karl Bartos of Kraftwerk at the end, in the 90s.) This track, called "Getting Away With It", features strings arranged and conducted by Anne Dudley from The Art of Noise! There's FOUR mixes of that crazy good song, plus an extra (fifth) track.
All three come in their original 12" picture sleeves, and all three are in really good shape. The three jackets have some shelf-wear on them, which is typical for vinyl that's around forty years old. The records themselves look great, and are all shiny and clean! I see no scratches, gouges, or scuffs on any of them. A sweet double shot of 80s Brit/synth pop, from New Order, who are still around to this very day; still occasionally touring and making new music, and still relevant! Plus an extra 12" featuring the singer of New Order (with a little help from his friends)!
