Halina Mickiewiczówna de Larzac (born November 7 , 1923 in Stolpce , died November 19 , 2001 in Gdansk ) [1] - Polish opera and operetta singer. Coloratura soprano . She was a senior lecturer at the Academy of Music. Stanislaw Moniuszko in Gdansk .

Biography
She was born in Stolpce and raised in Warsaw . Her childhood and youth coincided with the period of Warsaw occupied by the Germans, where she performed in private apartments and small cafes where dramatic actresses of the time were waitresses. Polish musicians such as Witold Lutoslawski , Zygmunt Latoszewski , and Andrzej Panufnik performed in these cafes . It was also there that the then nineteen-year-old Halina Mickiewiczówna debuted.

Mickiewiczówna was able to sing the most difficult staccatos, trills, passages or garlands of ornaments, which she did lightly, naturally and effortlessly. She had an excellent ear and musicality, which allowed her to deepen the musical content of coloratura pieces, written primarily for technical display. She was called the Nightingale of Warsaw [ footnote needed ] . During World War II, she studied solo singing with Ada Sarias part of secret teaching in the artist's private apartment. Ada Sari was in Warsaw at the outbreak of the war, and from 1941 she gave underground lessons. Mickiewiczówna studied with Ada Sari for three years, with whom she found shelter in war-occupied Warsaw, becoming not only her student, but also her friend. After the war, the situation of Polish singers was not easy. The Iron Curtain separated from the world and even a great career in Poland did not give the right to perform in the West.

Halina Mickiewicz was recognized by music critics in Poland as the wittiest, most charming and precise Rosina in Rossini's The Barber [ needed a footnote ] , the wonderful Konstancja in Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio [ needed a footnote ] , she brilliantly performed Strauss waltzes [ needed a footnote ] , signature fragments of operettas [ footnote needed ] . The reviewer wrote in "Kurier Warszawski": "Mrs. Halina Mickiewiczówna is unrivaled. I don't think there is another singer in Poland at the moment who would play the role of Konstancja with such ease and ease, and at the same time accuracy and artistry .

She became a legend in Poland in the 1950s and 1960s. At that time, the singer moved to Gdynia. She expanded her repertoire with cycles of romantic and contemporary songs, made many radio recordings, and eventually turned to teaching. At the beginning at the Musical Theater in Gdynia , where she not only became a teacher, but also an advisor in the field of cast and repertoire selection. Next was the Secondary Music School. Later, she lectured at the Academy of Music in Gdansk. Stanislaw Moniuszko. In autumn 1997, Halina Mickiewicz celebrated 55 years of artistic work and 25 years of teaching work, during which she signed 29 diplomas, 6 of which with distinction. Many of its graduates have retired from opera, including: Kazimierz Sergiel - bassof the Baltic Opera , tenor Ryszard Karczykowski , Jerzy Mahler - bass of the Chamber Opera in Warsaw . The most outstanding next to them are: Malgorzata Armanowska , Kira Boreczko , Jacek Labuda , Aleksandra Kucharska-Szefler , Wojciech Parchem and the singer Irena Jarocka .

Halina Mickiewiczówna's pupils include winners of national and international competitions. One of them is Tomasz Krzysica , who won first place in 2001 at the 8th International Rosetum Vocal Competition in Milan and became the first and only Polish winner in the history of this competition.

In 1997, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of artistic and pedagogical work, an album was released entitled Halina Mickiewiczówna - Maestro of Coloratura with archival recordings from 1953-1962, thanks to the help of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music Stanislaw Moniuszko in Gdansk, the Department of Culture and Sport of the Municipal Office in Gdynia, the Department of Culture, Science and Sport of the Provincial Office in Gdansk.

Quick note on grading:

The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately

When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"EXCEPTIONALLY QUIET" is close to noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an above average quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example with some noise.

These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.
