This is a seminal LP in the evolution of rock and roll. It embodies garage rock and surf rock, and represents a forerunner to the punk music of the mid 1970s. No wonder "Surfin' Bird" was selected not only to be on the soundtrack of "Full Metal Jacket," but also earned a spot on the Family Guy cartoon aimed at adults.
