Side 1. Judy Freeman & Blackrock - Hold OnSide 2. Ted Taylor - Somebody's Always Trying

A 70s funky Northern soul masterpiece by New York-born soul singer Judy Freeman is reissued for the first time on 7", in conjuction with Ted Taylor, who was chronically unappreciated throughout his career. The latter's 'Somebody's Always Trying' is a magnificent uptempo dancefloor-filler with a pounding rhythm, powerful drums, rocking horns and a great frantic, exasperated vocal. The obverse 'Hold On', meanwhile, prefers to rollick in devilish guitar and brass cadences, with Freeman herself urging us to keep on trucking, not least since a new day is dawning.
