In 1988, a supergroup was formed, and they called themselves The Traveling Wilburys. It was George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Roy Orbison. They only did two studio albums, ('Volume 1' and 'Volume 3'. But whatever happened to Volume 2? Lol)

Roy Orbison passed away several months after the first album came out, so the band continued on as a quartet for the second album. They each took the last name of Wilbury, but changed their first names on the second album. The debut in 1988 gave us the hits: "Handle With Care", "Last Night", and "End of the Line". I really like "Tweeter and the Monkey Man", as well...it's a great song!

(RIP Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, and George Harrison. It's hard to put into words how important to the history of rock and roll you three were. Each of you, in your own special way, changed music as we know it. Thank you for the legacies of great songs that you all have left us. Each of you is truly missed!)

Today we feature a copy of that very first album, and the a first edition vinyl LP of 'Volume 1', plus TWO very cool 7" picture sleeve singles! First up is the first album. The vinyl itself looks great, and is shiny and clean! Inside sleeve is in really, really good shape. A great top-notch copy, with a jacket that looks almost new!

Next is the single for the big hit on this album, a song called "Handle With Care". It's in a nice picture sleeve, and it's the artwork from the cover of the album (more or less). Backed with the song"Margarita". Both are on 'Volume 1'. The single itself looks okay, but with plenty of light surface marks on both sides. I seldom play 7" singles, as the vinyl is so fragile. I bought this for the artwork. Sleeve is in good condition, but with a little shelf-wear on it.

And the last piece in this triple shot of Wilburys goodness is the 7" picture sleeve of Roy Orbison, and the song "She's a Mystery to Me", written by Bono and The Edge of U2! (Also produced by Bono, who plays guitar on this song. Other special guests on this track are Howie Epstein and Benmont Tench of Tom Petty's Heartbreakers.) Vinyl itself looks great, with the exception of a nice scratch on one side. But no worries, as it's a promo, so same song on both sides! (They did that so DJs wouldn't play the wrong song.) Sleeve looks very good, but with a little shelf-wear on it.

Bring home some Wilburys, and check out a supergroup that made some timeless classic rock music that sounds as good today as when it came out all those years ago! And on an LP that's been taken care of. With a band like the Traveling Wilburys, and the warm rich sound of vinyl, you just can't go wrong!
