For sale is a unique compilation of songs featuring the Beatles (taking advantage of their new-found popularity) and showcasing Tony Sheridan. As described in the liner notes, "MGM records proudly presents The Beatles with the fabulous new singing rage, Tony Sheridan, in a program of favorites that cannot be described. In addition, the Titans, a group musically related to their English cousins, keep things simmering between takes."
I've had this album in my collection since 1964, having purchased it from a friend, since I wanted everything Beatles. During the past 60 years, the record has been stored in my media room aka closet on end and in a smoke-free and pet-free environment. I tested the album on my turntable and it sounds remarkable for its age. Some crackles and pops when it first begins to play, but not much once you get past the first minute or so. No skips. The record jacket shows expected wear and tear through handling. I've given the album cover a "good" rating, but I'll let you be the judge.
One side note that I hadn't noticed before. "Cry for a Shadow" is the one song written by the Beatles. I knew it was an instrumental, but I hadn't noticed that the writers were not Lennon-McCartney, but Harrison-Lennon. As far as I know, this is the only song in the Beatles catalog written by George and John. "Cry" and five other songs were recorded in Hamburg in 1961 when the Beatles were acting as a back-up group for Tony Sheridan. Anyway, interesting history.
Sorry, sales to eBay buyers residing in the continental US only.
