'The Rocky Horror Show' was a theater musical in 1973. They recorded music for the movie, called 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show', FIFTY years ago, in 1974. That movie was released in 1975, so the film is coming up on its half-century anniversary next year! The actor who played Riff Raff, the balding butler, is actually Richard O'Brien, who wrote the book, the music, AND the lyrics. O'Brien also wrote the movie's screenplay!

The film became a midnight movie cult classic, and I first saw it in the early 80s, while in college, at a midnight movie showing. My friends who took me didn't tell me about everyone dressing up, bringing props, and acting out scenes. It blew my mind! There was a sequel made called 'Shock Treatment', done by Richard O'Brien, in 1981. It has some good songs in it, but it just never took off. 'RHPS' has been around for nearly fifty years, and each new generation seems to discover it. The TV show 'Glee' had their version of it, and there's even a remake (with Laverne Cox and Adam Lambert). It's hard to beat the original with Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, and Meatloaf, but the remake is pretty fun, and even features Tim Curry himself (in the role of the criminologist)!

In today's "rocky" good deal, you get a BRAND NEW and NEVER PLAYED 12" picture disc LP of the original motion picture soundtrack, and the 45th anniversary special edition! This is awesome, and is Tim Curry as Dr. Frank N. Furter on the A side, and several theaters' billboards showing the movie on the B side. In its original PVC jacket with hype sticker (sticker has song titles and credits). Jacket is not split, at all. Vinyl was bought new and never taken out of the jacket.

But let's do the time warp again! I'll also add the special 10" of the 1989 remix of the most famous and probably best loved song of 'Rocky Horror', a catchy and danceable track called "(Let's Do) The Time Warp", on red and black marbled colored vinyl! Side A is the original version, plus another version for fans of karaoke. The B side is the '89 remix, plus an extended mix. This was also bought new and never played. Vinyl has never even been taken out of its jacket! And this jacket is also not split, at all.

Last, you'll also get the 35th anniversary Blu-ray disc of the 1975 movie, with tons of special features! And on Blu-ray, no less...this was released to mark the 35th anniversary of 'Rocky Horror', so I imagine they'll do something special for the fiftieth anniversary that's coming up. They add deleted scenes and alternate endings (and a black and white beginning), a music video (for "Time Warp"), documentaries, and much more! Disc looks new and is shiny and clean, and case also looks great.

See the movie that's been freaking people out (but in a good way) for almost fifty years, and see it in a theater, at a midnight movie showing, if you ever get the chance. Just don't forget the rice and the toast! And grab this triple item deal with new and unplayed vinyl, plus a like new Blu-ray copy of the movie that started a decades long trend.
