Legends Stephan Bodzin and Marc Romboy come through for a surprise collab and rerub of their 2006 'vs' track 'The Alchemist'. Now apparently no longer at odds with one another - indeed, the rarely-used vs format implies a rivalry or playful opposition - we're now thrust into a more conventional mode of reinterpretation by way of the remix. In contrast to the original tech house tune's striking minimality and snappiness, Romboy's A-sided remix takes our familiarity with the original number as a given, eschewing the earlier feel for a much roomier, more cavernous and contemporarily "slick" sound. Luckily, we're also met with a remastered version of the OG version, with which we may compare and contrast the new iteration with the old's prodding 808 snares and cerebral, glottal 'yows'.
