New Orleans, along with Nashville and Memphis, Austin, TX, Seattle, and New York and Los Angeles are well known as music cities (there are others, but these are some of the best known). New Orleans musicians have been making great music for many, many years. Our artists are often popular all over the world. Our citizens love local music. We welcome visiting artists, but there's nothing like a show featuring local talent. Today we feature FOUR Louisiana legends, on FOUR different vinyl LPs!

We'll start with the most vintage of them all. Professor Longhair! He's here with his album 'Crawfish Fiesta', from 1980. 'Fess is on the cover, with animated crawfish all around him, having a 'fiesta'. Colorful and joyful, just like his music! This album also features Dr. John on piano and vocals. 'Gris-Gris' indeed...

And speaking of the good doctor, Dr. John is here with an album called 'Dr. John and his New Orleans Congregation'. Mac Rebennack, AKA Dr. John, is wearing his flashy and trippy clothes, which would fit in at a Mardi Gras parade, (or a Dr. John show). I'm not really sure of the tracks on here, if they're studio songs or maybe live recordings. The numbers 2020 is on here a couple and it could be the date of release (or something else).

We move on to Cha Wa, who's actually been nominated for a couple of  Grammys already! Formed in NOLA in 2014, TEN years ago, by Joe Gelini. Was definitely influenced by the music of the Mardi Gras Indians. Many talented musicians have been in and out of the band through the years, but Gelini remains the leader. Those guys are here with their 2021 release 'My People'. And on really cool colored vinyl! (See pics for a stock photo.)

And we'll end with Jon Batiste. He was the band leader on Stephen Colbert's late night talk show for many years. Batiste was born and raised in New Orleans, and is an amazing artist! He's won many awards including several Grammys, an Academy Award (for his work on the animated movie 'Soul'), a Golden Globe award, a BAFTA Film Award, and others. His latest album, titled 'WE ARE', was nominated NINE times at the 64th Grammy awards, and he won FIVE of them, including album of the year with 'WE ARE'!

Jon Baptiste is here with a STILL SEALED and NEVER OPENED or PLAYED copy of his 2021 album 'WE ARE', featuring the hit song "Freedom", and special guests like Trombone Shorty, Zadie Smith, Hot 8 Brass Band, and others. It's actually really, really good!

Cha Wa and Jon Baptiste are, as mentioned, new and factory sealed. Professor Longhair's vinyl has a few very light surface marks on one side, plus a nice mark on the song "Big Chief", on the other side. The jacket looks fantastic, and the colors are bright. Dr. John's vinyl looks new, and is shiny and clean. Jacket looks great, as well.

You don't have to be from Louisiana to love New Orleans' music! These great artists can come home with you today, and you'll hear blues, jazz, funk, rock, soul, swamp pop, and maybe a little zydeco....and that's just Dr. John. The flavor of the south just got a little tastier!
