Grace Jones: Nightclubbing Original Issue LP 1981
Excellent Condition
This original issue LP comes in Excellent condition for the cover and Mint condition for the vinyl. It's been protected in an air-conditioned environment and stored in a DiscWasher V.R.P (Valuable Record Protector) sleeve since original purchase. As mentioned, most LPs in Beezar Audio's collection were used only to record a needle-drop copy onto a high-quality cassette for regular listening.
The massive breakout success album for Grace Jones, Nightclubbing was released in 1981 to almost universal critical and commercial acclaim. Nightclubbing firmly established Grace Jones as a pop icon. She pioneered an androgynous look that later became very popular among female performers. She was even rumored at the time to have knocked out a mugger in New York's Central Park while she was jogging.
Nightclubbing's music itself blended parts of reggae and R&B, similarly to how Police had blended reggae with rock. Appropriately, the first cover song on this LP was "Demolition Man," later released by Police and its composer, Sting, on the "Ghost In The Machine" album (Grace's version was better). Grace later went on to star with Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Conan the Destroyer" and famously teamed up with Roger Moore in James Bond's "A View to a Kill."
My wife and I were lucky enough to see Grace in concert in Atlanta when she toured for the Nightclubbing album.
Nightclubbing was singled out by High Fidelity Magazine in 1981 as one of the finest, most highly-detailed LP recordings ever released up to that time for rock/alt-rock. This LP is definitely one of the finest detailed you will ever hear that was a "normal" release (not a master, digital or other enhanced pressing) and was deservedly preserved in a DiscWasher VRP sleeve by Beezar Audio. It remains one of my all-time favorite albums.
