Mothers of Invention (Frank Zappa): Freak Out!
Vintage Double LP 1966 Good LP, Cover Worn
It's unbelievable that this was released in 1966. Frank Zappa's debut album for the Mothers of Invention was purchased by my older brother when it first came out. The cover is well-worn, but the vinyl LPs (2 of them) are in good shape. A lot has been said about this album, but as a young in-betweenager, the sleazy references to "Suzy Creamcheese" were my favorites. "Who Are the Brain Police?" ranks right up there with Bob Dylan's best for the rebellious feelings in the late 60s. It was reported that one girl broke out crying from fear upon first listening to this song during the recording sessions.
Freak Out! was also notable as one of the very first (if not THE first) "concept" albums in Rock.
