Los Modernistas/Patricia Descarga/India De Oriente - rare 4 track acetate Product Description
You are bidding on a very rare 10" acetate obtained in Santiago-de-Cuba from the collection of the nephew of Luisa Maria Hernandez (aka La India De Oriente). There are four tracks: one by Los Modernistas and another by Patricia Descarga on Side A (song titles not listed) and 2 tracks from La India De Oriente on Side B. The two India tracks appear to be: Embruzos Demi Cuba and Cuba Azuly Verde. I have not played the record itself but as with acetates of this nature is likely unplayable even though there are no deep scratches or marks. The label is Audiodisc, a company from New York City. The record is fragile and will be sold as is. A unique item for a collector of any of these three artists and truly an incredible find. A Cuban musical treasure.
Grading: Poor (as is)
No Cuban records are graded Mint or Near Mint. All records are strictly graded according to the guidelines of the 2014 Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide. Sleeves are graded first followed by the vinyl.
M = Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deteriation in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Un-played should be Mint.
EX = Excellent:The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VG = Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
G = Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
F = Fair: The record is still just playable but has been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
P = Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The record and contents will be badly damaged, or partly missing.
B = Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only used as a collection-filler.
Additional Grading:
NM = Near Mint: A record played only a handful of times that looks and plays a notch below Mint.
EX(+) = Excellent Plus: This grade is used when a record looks and plays better than EX but is not at the NM level.
EX(-)= Excellent Minus: The record is obviously better than VG but not quite EX.
The above 3 grades are not part of the Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide but are commonly used by collectors worldwide. They provide for a more accurate grading.
