Balafon Marimba Ensemble, "Balafon Marimba Ensemble" (Shanachie #67002) Excellent STILL SEALED self-titled 1990 LP by the Balafon Marimba Ensemble. The COOL, gorgeous neo-folk art cover is MINT-minus, its sole flaw being a tiny pin hole in the lower right hand corner, indicating that this was a promo copy. The vinyl is Mint -- I only give a Mint grade to sealed items. Strict grading. And the music? Afro-groove sounds, with 4 marimbas and lots of other hip percussion. The band's entrancing, delightful, exotic program includes covers of two tunes by Zimbabwe star, Thomas Mapfumo -- "Nhamo" and "Temerina."
