"Forgotten Woods" bring Black Metal from Norway, formed in 1991. Alongside Burzum and Strid, they are generally regarded as having pioneered the depressive black metal subgenre. They have a project band called Joyless. So far they have released 4 demo’s, 1 EP, 1 Best of and 3 full-lengths, the latest being ‘’Race of Cain’‘, from 2007. The title for the next Forgotten Woods album will be The Night And The Devil, release date as of yet unknown.

Forgotten Woods was originally formed as Mordor in Norway in 1991 by Olav Berland (guitar, drums), Thomas Torkelsen (vocals) and Rune Vedaa (bass), but a few months later the name was changed to Forgotten Woods. In 1993 they released two demos, "Through the Woods" and "Forgotten Woods". "As the Wolves Gather", their debut album, was released in 1994 by No Colours Records. It was followed by the EP "Sjel av Natten" in 1995. In 1996 they released their second album, "The Curse of Mankind". Shortly after they broke up and Olav Berland and Rune Vedaa went on to form Joyless.

In 2003 a boxset, "Baklengs Mot Stupet", was released. It contained both albums and the EP.
