Record Grading Standards
The Estate Outcrier uses the Goldmine Record Grading Guideline to determine the condition of records and their jackets. Unless otherwise stated, records are only given visual grades. Sound grading is not conducted at this time. Guidelines are as follows:
NM = Near Mint; for records that appear virtually flawless. A very minor scuff and very little else will appear on the vinyl. NM covers have only minor signs of wear and/or age. There may be minor impressions on the cover due to the outer edge of the vinyl resting inside.
VG+ = Very good plus; for records that show wear, surface scuffs, and some very light scratches. The vinyl has a great luster, but the flaws are noticeable to the naked eye. VG+ covers is virtually a clean cover but may have small writing on it. The artwork looks clean but with some visible aging on the front and back cover. White paper may be somewhat yellow yet no stains or mildew from water damage. Some minor wear to the seams or spine may be present, but no tears or holes pop through. The corners may be slightly soft yet no crackly bends defacing the artwork.
VG = Very Good; for records that appear to have been well played but still have some luster. The vinyl may be faded, slightly grayish, and have surface scuffs and visible scratches. VG covers have apparent wear and handling. There may be some seam splitting. There may be ring wear on the front and back cover.
VG- = Very Good minus; for records that show significant wear and handling. Includes ring wear, damaged or defaced labels. VG- covers have significant damage including heavy creases, paper damage, writing, and seam splits over 1” long.
