Real name Salvatore Anselmo. Born 1933 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Sammy Salvo recorded for various labels during the late 50's and early 60's. He says he styled himself after Bobby Darin but his Alabama roots place him more firmly in the pop rockabilly mold. His biggest hit in that vein was his cover the Crescendos' Oh Julie. The flip of that was his version of Wayne Handy's Say Yeah a pretty good rocker featuring some fine backing.
