Lot of 11 Beatles LPs, one of which is a double lp.
I think they are all 1960's pressings, with the exception of Please Please Me.
Most have surface marks, but all play very well. Sgt Pepper has a minor warp, which does not noticeably affect play. There is also a very minor edge kink to Revolver. None of the lps have jumps or skips on my turntable.
Any faults are listed.
I have listened to all the lps over three weeks in the evenings, which was time consuming, but also pleasurable.
The gradings are as per Rare Record Price Guide.
Records and Sleeves are graded individually.
I am no Beatles expert, so the listing of the Matrix numbers may help clarify whether the records are first or later pressings.
The LPs will be posted with Hermes Tracked and insured for the value listed.
The package is over 2kg hence Royal Mail will not deliver as a Small Parcel from a Post Office.
Please see below for record details:
1. Please Please Me.
Catalogue Number: PCS 3042. Recording Format: Stereo. Matrix numbers: YEX 94-1 and YEX 95-1.
Record Grade: EX/EX. Sleeve Grade: EX.
Notes: Vinyl plays very well. I think this is either a late 1960s or 1970s pressing, but unsure. The label features silver writing, not yellow. Sleeve does not have Mono or Stereo on front in top margin. Neat pen annotation (initials) or each label. In an EMI Inner which has a seam split at bottom.
2. With The Beatles.
Catalogue Number: PMC 1202. Recording Format: Mono. Matrix numbers: XEX 447-5N and XEX 448-5N.
Record Grade: VG+/VG+. Sleeve Grade: VG-.
Notes: Vinyl plays well, nice clean surfaces, minor crackle. Rear of sleeve has minor damage to upper flipback, with two small portions torn away. Some creasing and corner damage to front of the sleeve. Vinyl plays very well. Comes in Emitex Inner Sleeve.
3. Beatles For Sale.
Catalogue Number: PMC 1240. Recording Format: Mono. Matrix numbers: XEX 503-4N and XEX 504-4N.
Record Grade: VG+/VG+ Sleeve Grade: VG+
Notes: Lots of light surface scratches; but plays really well, with a good clear sound. A Minor part of sleeve worn away at lower rear, next to spine. Has M stamped beside of spindle hole on Side 1 label only (tax code)? Comes in Emitex Inner Sleeve. Name annotation to Side 1 Label (on the £ sign yellow background).
4. A Hard Days Night.
Catalogue Number: PMC 1230. Recording Format: Mono. Matrix numbers: XEX 481-3N and XEX 482-3N.
Record Grade: VG+/VG+. Sleeve Grade: VG.
Notes: Plays very nicely. Has K and T stamped either side of spindle hole on Side 2 label only (tax code)? Date and name attotated to rear of sleeve. Some minor damage to lower front of sleeve and slight opening edge tear about 25mm. Complete with Emitex Inner Sleeve.
5. Help!
Catalogue Number: PMC 1255. Recording Format: Mono. Matrix numbers: XEX 549-2 and XEX 550-2.
Record Grade: VG+/VG+ Sleeve Grade: VG+
Notes: Lots of light scuff marks and minor scratches to Side 1 surface; a few light scratches to Side 2. Plays really well though, with no noticeable distortion apart from light crackle and hiss in parts. Has K and T stamped either side of spindle hole on Side 2 label only (tax code)? Nice clean sleeve. Comes with Emitex Inner Sleeve.
6. Rubber Soul.
Catalogue Number: PMC 1267. Recording Format: Mono. Matrix numbers: XEX 579-4 and XEX 580-4.
Record Grade: VG/VG. Sleeve Grade: VG.
Notes: Lots of light marks to vinyl surfaces; including some odd white marking in grooves.
On Side One, there are several passages of isolated ticks and crackle. Drive My Car and the beginning of Norwegian Wood and Michelle both have audible ticks on each revolution at low volume, but still sounds pleasant. On Side Two, Track 2; 'Girl' where the white marks are produces a sequence of soft pops.
Some minor damage to front sleeve, lower near seam and some tape removal (I think) to upper by Paul's head. A name annotation to rear of sleeve in black ink. Complete with Emitex Inner Sleeve.
7. Revolver.
Catalogue Number: PMC 7009. Recording Format: Mono. Matrix numbers: XEX 605-2 and XEX 606-1.
Record Grade: VG/VG-. Sleeve Grade: VG+
Notes: This is the Very First Mono Pressing, reputedly first day of UK Issue 5th August 1966, with the 606-1 Side 2 Matrix
Number, a sought after issue. 'Dr.Robert' on the label and sleeve listing.
There is a really tiny edge kink but does not affect play in any way, the stylus deviates (up) very slightly on run in and first few grooves. The vinyl surfaces are lightly marked, but the record plays very well.
Light crackle throughout most of Side 1 and a few isolated clicks and pops. Side Two, again very light background crackle, hardly noticeable unless playing at low volume. A few pops on Ive Got Time through to Tomorrow Never Knows, but absolutely no Skips or jumps.
Name annotation to Rear of Sleeve, on flipback. Comes in Emitex Inner.
8. A Collection of Beatles Oldies.
Catalogue Number: PMC 7016. Recording Format: Mono. Matrix numbers: XEX 619-1G and XEX 620-1G.
Record Grade: VG+/VG+ Sleeve Grade: VG+.
Notes: Lots of very light marks, and in a certain light, some strange patternation, which does not detract from the really good clear sound.(The patternation) may have been a result of liquid spillage or maybe a cleaning fluid, or even in the vinyl itself. Most of the tracks play faultlessly, bordering on EX grading. Front of sleeve is lovely. Rear of sleeve has neatly annotated name and address and sellotape over the upper flipback. Comes in Black / White EMI Inner, advertising other period EMI lps.

9. Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Catalogue Number: PMC 7027. Recording Format: Mono. Matrix numbers: XEX 637-1 and XEX 638-1.
Record Grade: VG+/VG+ (there is a warp on the lp). Sleeve Grade: VG+
Notes: Lovely sounding lp, with a few light marks to the surfaces. A noticeable warp / bow, which causes needle to deviate, but does not seem to affect playback at all. Comes with cut out insert. Gatefold inner makes a peculiar crackling when opened, where the (intact) laminate seems to have loosened from the cardboard. Comes in Coloured EMI Inner, advertising EMI lps.

10. The Beatles (White Album) 2LP.
Catalogue Number: PMC 7067 and PMC 7068. Recording Format: Mono. Matrix numbers: XEX 709-1 XEX 710-1 XEX 711-1 and XEX 712-1.
Record Grade: VG/VG/VG/. Sleeve Grade: VG.
Notes: This is a Top Opening double lp. There is a minor tear to lower rear sleeve, near spine, also minor damage to lower spine. Two Red Dymo stickers with embossed initials to Side 1 and Side 3 labels. The Embossed Number on front of sleeve is 0293292. There are no inserts or posters. The inner sleeves are white paper, not original in my opinion.
All vinyl surfaces have surface marking, and there is low volume crackle throughout, especially during run ins to sides. However, the lp plays really well, with no skips or jumps, and minimal distortion throughout. 'I Will' on Side Two has lots of light clicks in the centre section of the song. The run-in to 'Honey Pie' is crackly, may be static which a good clean will remedy. Side 4 'Revolution 9' is also crackly in passages. Many songs feature a really clear sound.
The Mono mix is very different to the Stereo one, better in my opinion.
11. Abbey Road.
Catalogue Number: PCS 7088. Recording Format: Stereo. Matrix numbers: XEX 749-2 and XEX 750-1.
Record Grade: VG/VG. Sleeve Grade: VG.
Notes: Plays well, features light crackle in quiet passages, most noticeable on track run ins, a few isolated pops. Sleeve has slight creasing and wear and tear. The sleeve rear depicts the non alligned apple logo with the Side 1 titles. A black ink initials annotation to Side 2 label. Comes in poly lined plain white inner sleeve.
