Charlie Feathers was one of rockabilly's great pioneers, there at the dawn of Sun Records. And Feathers' stubborn insistence on combining elements of country, raw blues, and bluegrass to make his own version of the rockabilly experience showed him to be one of the genre's most original and enduring artists. In 1968 Feathers reactivated his recording career with a series of sessions at the Memphis Select-O-Hits Studio under the guidance of Sam Phillips' brother, Tom.The lion's share of the Tom Phillips Sessions were released on the Barrelhouse lp 'That Rockabilly Cat' which features here on tracks 3-9 & 11-15.  This 1992 released compilation brings together his late 1960s-early 1970s Tom Phillips recordings (including four previously unreleased tracks), plus a 1974 7" released on Ronnie Weiser's Rollin Rock label, and a fascinating live TV recording from 1978.
Charlie is in rare form on these explosive sides, turning in the best version of "Tear It Up" ever recorded, with its legendary B-side, "Stutterin' Cindy." - allmusic
