Eileen Farrell Sings
Torch Songs
Reference Recording RR-34
TAS, NM
"In my opinion Eileen Farrell was in a class all her own. She was the
first great opera diva to cross over into Pop and do it with an
incredible ease. Beautiful operatic voice and honey smooth pop voice.
Wow, what a power house she was."
"I don't know where to begin. Eileen Farrell was one of the three or four
best singers America has produced and, incredibly, she excelled at
opera, jazz and the great American song in equal measure. Arriving on
the scene during WW II, she was signed for her own radio show at CBS in
New York. She was only 22 and she soon proved she could sing almost
anything. Her voice was huge, accurate, lyrical and thrilling, so she
became equally at home in Verdi, Pucinni, Wagner or singing her justly
famous Marie in Wozzeck. She just sounds like a talented singer. No more. No less."

No digital here.... I
recently read one "classically trained" reviewer's notes wherein he
recommended buying the CD rather than listening to MP3 versions because
of MUCH less compression - "A word to the wise: get the CD instead of
the MP3. The problem with
MP3 is that they are so compressed you only get 10-20% fidelity of the
music."
I MAY HAVE AN EVEN BETTER IDEA - WHY NOT GO
"OLD SCHOOL" AND GET THE BEST VERSION - BUY PURE ANALOGUE WHERE THERE IS
NO DIGITAL INVOLVED AT EITHER END, AND NO COMPRESSION.
But you have to be careful - a LOT of Vinyl created since the late 70's -
80's has been mastered digitally, so you're just as well off buying
the CD. Unless you're in a car, on a bicycle or otherwise traveling,
you don't need a CD. An analogue LP is the next best thing to "being
there". BUY A TURNTABLE!
I'm not a dealer, merely an analogue enthusiast selling off a few sealed duplicates and others from my small personal collection.
If you can't BE THERE and hear it live, the BEST alternative is a PURE ANALOGUE recording in an excellent playback system - no digital allowed here.
Original owner - played once! The LP is flawless and in "like new" condition. This item is being offered "as is".
Cover is NM and always kept in it's original outer plastic sleeve.
