I'M A GOOD WOMAN / SYMPATHY ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by SILKY SPEARMAN. Original Belgium pressing on EUREC label (720), from 1970. Outstanding, sister funk cum northern soul cum funky mod cover version of the Barbara Lynn I'M A GOOD WOMAN anthem. Nobody seems to know anything about the mysterious Silky Spearman and this killer double-sider. Comped on Jazz Bizniz 2 by the Counterpoint label. A superb example of euro-only female funk with big vocals / congas / fuzz guitar / hammond and drum breaks. Silky trips-out in the studio with vocal shades and tones a la Marlena Shaw - Liberation Conversation / Woman Of The Ghetto and even James Brown style shouts in places too. Great for DJs (and a nice one back to back with Cavril Payne - When I Open My Eyes ;) For us, the best and most obscure release with superior, louder production sound on the Belgium issue, compared to the French and later, Portoguese release ;) That said, for some collectors the SYMPATHY side is even better. A more unusual arrangement and seldom heard, so expect a darker psychedelic sound with thought-provoking, soulful vocals / looped latin riddim intro into groovy / progressive / spiritual rhythms with cool flute solos and jazz horn section :) Beautiful image of the singer on the sleeve artwork too. Rare 45!!!

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) with a few hairlines and some pressing marks. Light surface noises. Superb production sound. The fragile thin, laminated fold-out picture sleeve is in strong VG++ condition with some ring creasing from storage. Sharp looking item. Minimal, light corner wear. Rare 45!!!
