On offer here:

THE WHITE ALBUM. THE RAREST LP PRESSED IN THE U.K. FOR EXPORT.

Original 1968 uk pressed, black and yellow, parlophone label, export pressing..... P-PCS 7067.

Released november 22nd 1968 "the beatles" was the beatles first double album release and their first album release on the apple label. One week after its release in the u.k it hit number 1 were it stayed for nine weeks it was also the first ever double album to get to number 1 in the u.k.

That same year (1968) emi issued this album for export purposes only. The export copies where exactly the same as the uk issues, gatefold numbered sleeves, black inners, poster e.t.c but instead of featuring the new apple labels emi issued the export copies on the well known black and yellow parlophone labels. The labels featured the usual "grammophone co" rim texts, "made in gt.BRITAIN" text but obviously did not carry the "sold in uk" label text.

These export copies where pressed in stereo only and carried the same catalogue number as the uk issues.

Pcs 7067 but with the addition of a "p" prefix...P-pcs 7067.

It is now well known that over the years emi regularly contracted out pressings of both singles and albums to other companies such as decca or pye and the export "white album" was no exception, some copies of this export album where pressed by decca.

There seems to be some uncertainty as to just how many copies where pressed of the export copy but what is certain is that the numbers where very few and very limited and it makes this mega rare indeed.

Catalogue number :  P-PCS 7067/7068.

Matrices: YEX 711-1 & YEX 712-2

Vinyl weight: 141g

Condition vinyl :

Over all the record plays in VG+ . Superficial scratches are visible on all 4 sides, some small and some longer, but the record plays easily through. You have to listen very carefully to notice clicks even though as minor imperfections they are noticeable all the way through. Absolutely no jumps or loud 'pops' or things like that. Sounds also OK between the tracks. Spindle marks a record that was played through the years. Clean labels, no stickers, pencil etc.

Audibly graded we find:

The album has a remarkably clear sound ( sounds better than my dutch M- copy! ) .

Side 1 : VG++. An occasional soft click, i.c. at the end of “While my guitar…”.

Side 2 : EX . Even softer parts, like “Blackbird”/ “Julia” sound fine.

Side3 : VG+ . A few soft clicks in the intro of “Mother nature’s son” . Also a few in “Long, long, long”.

Side 4 : VG+ . 2 or 3  clicks before the music begins. One or two soft clicks in “Honey pie “ and some soft clicks between “Cry, baby cry” and “Revolution 9 “.

Item description :

The number on the front of the cover is 199153, which is low. The album with those yellow Parlophone lettering is unique and mega hard to find and it is said that they were usually meant for the Portuguese market. The top-opened fully laminated cover was printed in Great Britain by Garrod & Lofthouse. At the back of the cover there is the small sign “Stereo”. The set is complete with its original poster which comes in EXCELLENT condition, and all 4 glossy John Kelly pictures which are also in EXCELLENT condition and two black inner sleeves in VG to VG+, one has a tear (4 cm from the circle in the middle, both donnot have seam splits at the bottom.

This is the extremely rare export issue from 1968, used to send to countries, where “Apple” was not yet registered. It has an embossed “The BEATLES” on the front of the sleeve. Both discs are 100 % flat, as they should be.

Condition sleeve:

Still shining , glossy white. Spine has only some wear at the edges. Nothing written on the sleeve. The left half of the double album has a seam split of about 4 to 5 cm ( 2 inches ) on top. Apart from that the cover is in VG+ up to a minor EX. The inner sleeves show traces of use.

Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items;without any major defects,is acceptable.

VERY GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated ,

perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.

On 10-Nov-16 at 05:08:28 GMT, seller added the following information:

In addition tot he advertisement we want to add the following two remarks:

1. “Record grading” is actually better described as follows : -- visably : vg to vg+

-- audibly : vg+

In the advertisement we forgot to emphasise BOTH aspects.

2. Most export albums of the White Album that were sent to Portugal have a number on front of the album that is between 450 000 and 550 000. In thát option the number of this export album is low.

We were wondering what country this album was sent to. Maybe someone can help ? The

former owner of this record cannot be asked anymore, which leaves this question unanswered for us.
