THIS ACTUAL JOHNNY BURNETTE CRUISIN' 78 was one of a few copies that did not have the LICENSED COURTESY OF M.C.A. RECORDS stickers applied - see the above photo. EMI had made a mistake in allowing Cruisin' copyright for "Train Kept A Rollin" & "Sweet Love On My Mind" (although they did have copyright for his later issues). The problem was resolved when M.C.A. reached an agreement with EMI and allowed the 78 to be issued as long as the stickers were applied to the sleeve.
Issued in 1996 this Cruisin’ 78 features the Legendary ROCKABILLY sound of JOHNNY BURNETTE - DORSEY BURNETTE and PAUL BURLISON.
"Train Kept A Rollin" was first recorded and performed in a Jump Blues style by Tiny Bradshaw in 1951. The track was reworked by Johnny & the trio with that distinctive distorted Rockabilly guitar sound and issued in 1956 backed with "Honey Hush" "Sweet Love On My Mind" was track 3 side 1 of their all time classic debut lp Johnny Burnette and The Rock & Roll Trio - issued in the UK December 1956
***************************************************              THIS IS THE INFORMATION FROM CRUISIN’ WHEN THE 78’s WERE ISSUED
The records are pressed in heavyweight vinyl on an original 1950's machine at EMI. The lacquers used to make the metal masters were cut on an original 50's mono 78rpm lathe and are complete with a locked eccentric runout groove - this feature is required by early jukeboxes to reject the record. To create an authentic rich 78rpm sound we were lucky with the help of Abbey Road Studios to track down a Multi Award winning engineer who had worked for many of the UK's leading record labels including Columbia and Top Rank during the late 50's. With his skills and using original equipment we were able to once again produce true 78rpm records of the highest quality.
THIS RECORD CAN BE MIXED IN WITH SHELLAC 78's ON A JUKEBOX WITH A 78 RPM NEEDLE - IT IS NOT AN INFERIOR MICROGROOVE PRESSING.
It can also be played on a Record Player with a 33 needle.
Each record has a hand printed sleeve and is individually numbered. They also contain reproductions of original items - photos, sheet music etc that relate to each artist.
