MOZART / KUBELIK / VIENNA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA - " SYMPHONY NO. 36 'LINZ' / SYMPHONY NO.38 'PRAGUE' ", H.M.V./EMI Records Ltd. (ASD 451) Stereo, 1962.
Very rare, original first pressing, English stereo LP.
The cream and gold label design and the heavyweight front laminated, flip-back sleeve distinguish this first issue.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and put in a fresh poly-lined inner sleeve (the original has been retained for the auction to keep it complete though).
CONDITION:
VINYL
= EXCELLENT CONDITION (No proper/deep scratches, no excessive surface noise
or wear, no groove damage or distortion, etc. Very clean labels with
only the lightest of spindle trails. This record has clearly only ever
had very light use and been very well cared for throughout it's
lifetime. Under a bright grading lamp there are a couple of light paper
scuffs and minute, purely cosmetic visual imperfections - naturally
these do not sound on playback. In fact, this record plays beautifully -
strong, clear, free from unwanted interuptions and the music is as
vibrant as ever. Being ultra critical, I heard the odd slight soft
background crackle in the silent sections and run-in... but we're
talking miniscule imperfections in the original pressing rather than
wear or damage!)
FWIW
unless a record appears genuinely unused, EX is the highest grading I
award used, but well cared-for classical LPs. I stand by EX as the accurate grading for
this LP too, it's not an undergrading... I just don't want to be judged
alongside sellers using terms like "Mint with the few light marks you
expect to find on an old LP" or sellers who only grade visually and
claim to not be able to play the records they are selling!!!
This
LP was tested for sale on my Linn Sondek LP-12 record player - this is
generally a very critical test and fit for purpose, but please take into
account that I cannot guarantee exactly how this record will sound on
every bidder's own hifi.
SLEEVE = V.G.+ (No rips, tears, big creases, large seam splits or defacing. But it has been marked down for a couple of small areas of delamination along the edges, light of wear to the edges and corners and the white rear sleeve is now more off-white - see photos for more info)
NOTE: before bidding, please take the time to carefully read my condition descriptions and then place your max bids accordingly. If you do have any additional queries, please try to ask me any questions well before the end of the auction and I will endeavour to answer/help out.
This LP will be well packed and posted via a Signed-For service.
