For Buy It Now here, is "the oldest Genesis item you are ever likely to see on Ebay".... 50 Years... and it comes with a COA...I have been a hardcore fan since 1972 (aged 10) and in the 46 years that have passed I have massed a huge amount of items, most have now gone to other Genesis fans around the world, so I'm now left with a few rarities that will probably be sold over this summer. This vinyl can occasionally be seen, but NOT in this amazing condition it also comes with EXTRA's ....and these extras are what makes this item totally UNIQUE and are the only copies in existence. anywhere in the world......GUARANTEED !    as they were kept by a Decca employee in 1968
The story behind these amazing items.......In September 1968 Genesis entered Regent Sound Studios in London to record "From Genesis To Revelation" an album that was released on 7th March 1969 (UK)...here enters the Decca employee and original owner of these items (name withheld)..... it was his job to help prepare the album for release, he very much loved the songs and was allowed  to keep these items for his own personal collection, sadly most items like this were typically destroyed by the record label but luckily for us not these...he remembers that there were many problems with getting the LP ready for release - firstly Genesis hadn't even decided on all the song titles, and at the last minute it was decided to include a lyric insert, the preparation of this lyric sheet and the cover and labels fell to him, He had the band write out the lyrics to the (12) songs and these were then roughly typed up in the Decca office before being sent back to the band for final approval, (one piece of paper per song) however when he received them back he noticed that there were many changes made to the LP's lyrics and even the song titles were changed at the last minute. on one of the typed lyric sheets you can see that the song titled "Beware The Future"  was changed by the band to..."The Serpent"...on the song "Am I very wrong" one word in the second verse was changed from "Eyes" to "Ears"... the track "In The Wilderness" was originally going to be called..."Music"....this was then "over typed" back at the Decca office...the track "One day" was originally titled "Dont Get Me Wrong"  again this has an over typed correction...these are just a few of the many corrections to the song titles and lyrics that can be seen, some corrections have been made in "Red" pen and some in "Black", the Decca employee remembers that the black pen corrections were made by a band member, alas we will never know who for certain made the changes but my guess is it would be "Peter Gabriel" as the singer !...These items are truly a piece of "Genesis" history...to have the original hand typed lyrics which helped prepare this incredible item is amazing, but to also have each one with hand made corrections by Genesis and Decca makes these items  UNIQUE  and must therefor be considered as the "oldest Genesis item ever to be on Ebay"...(any older Genesis items will be so personal to the band members that they will never been seen)
This just gets better....the Decca employee also kept the "Music Score" to the "Silent Sun" which he put with his copy of the LP, the single version to this song was released on 2nd February 1968 (UK) it was the bands first ever single and once again this copy has hand written corrections, the Decca employee remembers the music score was intended to be used as a basis for printed "sheet music"  (as was customary at the time) but he also remembers that this never happened, so this copy of the music score to the "Silent Sun"  is the "only one in existence !"....can this item get any better  ????   YES.... there's more to come.    The vinyl.....this has the earliest 1/B 1/B mother and stamper codings and that clearly shows that this is a first pressing and even better than that the "Decca" label on the LP is "Unboxed"....Decca changed to a "Boxed" logo in late 1969,  as a Genesis fan you will know that the original "Robert Stace" sleeves for this LP quickly de-laminated...but this copy is superb as it's the Decca employee's very own copy and it does of course have the hole in the rear so you could see the inner sleeve colour (Red-Mono  Blue-Stereo)  The LP labels are STUNNING with no writing, wear and only a few spindle marks, the vinyl surface is BRILLIANT, most of these 60s LP's were taken to parties and heavily scratched and worn out which made them un-playable..this one is the exception and still has it's "just pressed" sheen !...the included lyric sheet is in fantastic condition with only very light wear.
Summary - I purchased these items in 2008 from a reputable record dealer, who provide a COA for this collection and the Decca employee was a "personal friend" to the dealer, (they unfortunately fell out of friendship when the dealer sold this collection to me)  and it is through the original owner who was personally involved in the overseeing of this release that so much of the Decca information comes,  these items are incredible and to have them all together is truly amazing, for the Decca employee to have had the foresight to "keep" rather than "discard" these items is amazing, and they can now all be added to YOUR personal collection, I will even release the employee's name to the buyer ! (withheld here for privacy)  I have often though that such a special piece of "Genesis History" really should be sold via a specialist music auction house, and if this fails to sell here I will probably go down that road....I paid a huge amount of money for this unique collection and I fully expect to make a loss......but now at the age of 56 I feel the time is right to pass this on to another "Genesis Fanatic" who will look after it for many years to come,...my wife does not appreciate my Genesis collection and I know that on my death she will simply empty it all in the trash.......Dont let this happen !....I have as you will have seen taken some photos and scans of this collection, I'm not going to scan all the individual Decca typed lyric sheets as I believe that keeping some secrecy is good for their new owner.....the starting price for this item is "£1000.00", but I know just how amazing and unique these items are, sure the LP can still be purchased for a few £££s, but as I said the condition of this copy is amazing and as for the sleeve.......remarkable !.....all in all a great item there by itself, but now we add in the Decca typed lyrics with hand written corrections to song titles and verse lyrics by Genesis (Peter Gabriel ??) and others by Decca really takes this collection to a whole new level.....and more,  what about the only copy in existence of the "Silent Sun" music score. (only one side of this has been scanned) ...I think you know enough now to make your own conclusion,  I welcome your questions but I can only answer them with info I have been given from the dealer I purchased these items from, I sent many messages to him when he was selling the collection, he has given a LIFETIME guarantee to this collection and a COA, which details the entire story as to how and why this collection came in to being, (it probably runs to about 800 words)   I will be happy to include our correspondence with this auction.   the item will be shipped via a courier. and I will cover the fees to the UK, outside the UK the buyer pays £30  this is a 7 day auction.....if your a true Genesis fanatic like me you absolutely need this unique collection which will grow in Value
