Duane Allman (20. November 1946 – 29. Oktober 1971) war einer der bedeutendsten Rock- und Bluesmusiker der Sechziger- und frühen Siebzigerjahre. In der Liste der ‚100 besten Gitarristen’ des ‚Rolling Stone’-Magazins wurde er nur von Jimi Hendrix vom ersten Platz verdrängt. Zusammen mit seinem Bruder Greg gründete er die Allman Brothers Band; er war auch als Sessionmusiker und als Mitglied der Allstar-Formation Derek & The Dominos mit Eric Clapton aktiv. Er starb am 29.10.1971 bei einem Motorradunfall im Alter von gerade mal 24 Jahren.
