ORIGINAL SATURN ALBUM JACKET ONLY
for Super-Sonic Jazz. This does NOT come with the record. If you buy this item
you WILL NOT RECEIVE THE LP!
kein Schallplatten! no dische! pas de vinyle!
Ok, you've been warned.
This jacket dates to the early/mid sixties and
was used for the original Saturn pressings that came out on Saturn (black on
gold label), El Saturn (black on orange) and Thoth (silver on black). If your jacket is worn this is a great opportunity to upgrade.
The image
is a spacey drawing by Claude Dangerfield. Sorry that there is no record, but these are one of those covers whose artwork stands on its own and looks great on the wall, an early example of afrofuturism decades before term afrofuturism was even coined! When historians talk about afrofuturism the image of this jacket is often cited as an example.
The jacket is an easy VG+, even close to M-. No ringwear; it does not appear a record was ever stored in it. Corners are fine and no seam wear. There is some minor
staining (mostly ink from the printing press as far as I can tell on the upper and lower
seams of the back cover, well away from the printed areas (see photo).
Again, 1. NO RECORD is included in this listing.
2. This is an ORIGINAL ITEM made by Sun Ra and/or his Saturn entourage
from the early/mid sixties. It is NOT a jacket from a late 90s or 21st century reissue.
