CONDITION DETAILS Import from Canada. Vinyl plays with occasional light-crackles (play-graded). Cover looks great; a few creases near edges; some scuffing, tiny surface abrasions, and surface impressions (front/back); spots near top-right on back where gloss has been removed. Inner-sleeve is original (lyrics/photos); one seam split, one seam partially split. Spine is easy-to-read with some wear. Shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Opening is crisp with signs of light use, tiny tear near top, and a few divots. Stickers on one side of label. (Hole-punch in bottom-left.)

ABOUT THE RECORD Not a trace of the dreaded sophomore curse was to be found on Brave and Crazy, Melissa Etheridge's second album. The throaty singer/guitarist/composer is slightly more reflective than on her first release, but no less confident. Nor is she is any less rootsy. Etheridge's earthiness is a large part of her appeal, and she uses it most advantageously on the gutsy rockers Skin Deep and Let Me Go (No. 13 Mainstream Rock), as well as more reflective pieces such as Testify, You Used to Love to Dance and You Can Sleep While I Drive (which, like a lot of Bruce Springsteen's songs, equates long drives with freedom and liberation). As introspective as things get on this album, Etheridge never becomes wimpy or self-pitying. For all its vulnerability, Brave and Crazy is the work of someone who comes across as a survivor (allmusic). No Souvenirs was her biggest hit from this album, it peaked at: No. 9 on Mainstream Rock, No. 18 on Modern Rock, and No. 95 on Billboard's Hot 100. It's music-video shows the singer sitting at the dock of a bay playing the guitar with her band in the background. The Angels also peaked at No. 34 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Chart. The album itself reached No. 22 on the Billboard 200.
