Offered here is a rare Columbia '20th Century' 6" cylinder record that plays for 3 minutes. It was made extra long to allow up to 3 minutes of play during a time when the standard cylinder records only played up to 2 minutes. These were a pretty big deal in 1905 and the cylinder players that played them were very high end. But when Edison introduced the 4" cylinder that played 4 minutes in 1908, these were all but forgotten.
Only 189 different titles were issued during the short life of these cylinders.
This one is catalog number 85068 (July, 1906), titled 'A DREAM', a baritone solo by Frank C. Stanley. Included are the original case and correct lid.
It is very glossy with just a hint of mildew, see photos for details. It plays excellent! The beginning is announced.
These are quite rare and almost impossible to find in this condition.
