ABOUT THE RECORD At the age of 74, Yank Lawson is in fine form on this pretty spontaneous, Dixieland-flavored set. He has a reunion with bassist Bob Haggart (featured on Whistlin' Cow Blues) and jams with clarinetist Johnny Mince, trombonist George Masso, tenor saxophonist Al Klink, pianist Knocky Parker, and drummer Nick Fatool. The veterans (most of whom date from at least the 1930s) may have mostly had white hair, but their playing still sounds enthusiastic and fresh throughout the session. The repertoire consists of four standards, including What's New, and four lesser-known tunes, including Haggart's Dogtown Blues.
