The Grateful Dead's fifth studio album, "American Beauty," was recorded in San Francisco in 1970. The musical team of Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Pig Pen, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann created innovative songs that combined bluegrass, folk, rock and country musical styles.

"American Beauty" features a basket of classic Dead tracks, including "Box of Rain," "Friend of the Devil," "Sugar Magnolia," "Ripple" and, of course, "Truckin'." The 10-title album was originally released in 1970 by Warner Brothers as WS 1893.

This LP is Warner Brothers' 1973 reissue with "Burbank palms" labels. Track B2 is listed with no track number as "Palace" instead of "Brokedown Palace."

The album is in very good to excellent condition with very little marking. The cover -- a classic San Francisco-style design produced by Mouse Studios -- looks great due to the narrow vinyl "tape" applied to the seams long ago. (Did you realize the cover can be read "American Reality" as well as "American Beauty"?)

Bid now -- and check my auctions for additional vinyl titles. U.S. bidders only, please. (Note: When viewing close-up photos, what may appear as major wear is in most cases a reflection from the adjacent photo area.)
