"Stunning rediscovery of underrated 80s indie heroes
Domino take a fittingly comprehensive approach to anthologising this rareified band. The first in a planned three-volume set, it collects the group’s first trio of albums, plus a compilation of early singles, remastered and issued on vinyl alongside four CDs of rarities and live cuts. Add to this an exhaustive archival book and reproductions of period posters and press releases (and, for early birds, a book from the late Grant McLennan’s personal library) and you’ve got a completist’s dream."
The box contains 4 vinyl LPs - the first 3 Go-Betweens albums (Send Me A Lullaby, Before Hollywood and Spring Hill Fair plus a new compilation of the band's early singles, The First Five Singles. The 4 CDs contain a selection of rare and unreleased recordings from this period.
Also included in the box is a 112-page hardback book, containing extensive notes from Robert Forster about the recordings and the evolution of the band together with many photographs from the period, a poster and a reproduction of the first Go-Betweens press release.
