Description: Miles Davis, Miles Ahead, Columbia CL 1041
This is a mono pressing, presumed first pressing of this 1957 release. "Six Eye" Columbia red and black label. Original sleeve design, with image of a white woman and child on a sailboat.
Condition: Sleeve has light to rubbing to both sides. Plastic inner bag, which is, as usual, in sad shape.
Disc: Side one: Crackling at beginning of track one, which quickly dissipates to the background. My needle jumped (but didn't skip) at two places in track one, but there's nothing I can see which caused it. Side two: light background crackling.
A
note on these Jazz records I'm listing: I'm not sure where or how they
were stored, but the disc themselves were extremely dirty when they came
to me (weirdly, the sleeves were not). I've given them a light cleaning
before playing, but I suspect they would improve with a deeper
cleaning, especially if you have a disc washer. I'm grading what I hear,
but I suspect they can be improved.
