UTA BELLA

KEKEH / MEYILAMBA

DISQUES AKUE AK 45030

Click and listen to our soundclip / mp3 of both sides

French Cameroon funk exotica by an obscure female singer. Features the pop jerk inspired club tune "Kekeh" that mixes up her unique brand of ethnic soul with African rhythms, delirious bboy bongos and raw saxophone leads. This afro girl really packs a punch with animated, near screaming vocals. Great for DJs! Disc cut loud with big production sound. Musical direction by an uncredited JoJo L'Explosif so the influence on this Uta project has a similar afro pop - jazz - spiritual - hard r&b ambience as his own recordings. SideB is called "Meyilamba" and is less frantic with groovy soul jazz e-piano by orchestra leader, Christian Joudinaud. Uta was maybe not the best singer in the world, but she definitely adds to the charm of this funky 7inch (released on a cult afro-centric Parisian label). Striking image of Uta on the picture sleeve too :)

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
RECORD - shiny, strong VG++ regardless of any faint hairlines and faint light scuffs from storage (mostly all to sideB) / one audible soft tick to sideA / disc cut loud with big production sound / some natural light background noises

SLEEVE - original soft card picture sleeve is strong VG++ (closer to M-) with minimal wear to corners and edges / sharp looking with just some ring dirt marks and other faint dirt marks from storage / some natural age discoloration / original languette still partially attached

LABEL - bright looking with minimal wear / a few faint old dirt marks from storage

After a 2 year gap, Pourquoi Moi Vintage is back :)
