Dan Auerbach und Patrick Carney nahmen Delta Kream in Auerbachs Easy Eye Sound Studio in Nashville auf; ihnen zur Seite standen die Musiker Kenny Brown und Eric Deaton, langjährige Mitglieder der Bands von Blueslegenden wie R. L. Burnside und Junior Kimbrough. Das Album hat seinen Namen von William Egglestons ikonischem Mississippi-Foto, das auf dem Cover zu sehen ist.
