DESCRIPTION

Fred Skinner - “Fred Skinner” Are-Tone Records 72-6377/6378 (Stereo). Super Hard to Find Private Pressing Ragtime / Barrelhouse / Jazz / Blues Piano Album from Fred Skinner. Fred Skinner was an African American who began his career in 1924 as a band singer. Two of his memorable compositions were "Roll 'Em Freddie" and "Skinner Boogie." Over the years he fronted his own bands and trios. When in Seattle he often played at the Roosevelt Hotel (7th Avenue & Pine St, Seattle) -- hence his recording: "Jumpin' At The Roosevelt.” There is no information on the Jacket or Label concerning when or where this LP was recorded or released and I can’t find any further info on the Internet. Would seem likely to be from the 1960s although he appears to have had other recordings on this Label as far back as at least the 1950s. In the Original Cover with no Cutouts, Promo markings or Barcode. 

CONDITION

The Sleeve is in good shape. There is some slight basic shelf wear and corner softening. Still very solid with no writing, cutouts, splits, tears, etc. and would rate VG. The Vinyl itself is in clean Glossy condition looking lightly played. If you look closely you can spot some light scuffs and hairlines. Plays nicely, at least VG+ all through but with some spots of slight groove noise and a couple soft tics. Overall I would still call it VG+. The labels are Near Mint.

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
