The Moontrekkers – Night Of The Vampire UK 1961 Instrumental, Rock, Pop

British instrumental rock and roll band in the early 1960s, who are best known for their minor chart hit "Night of the Vampire", arranged and produced by Joe Meek, and for their peripheral involvement in the early career of singer Rod Stewart. They recorded the instrumental tune, "Night of the Vampire", at Meek's home studio in Islington, with Meek himself providing the eerie screams at the end of the record. The record was banned by the BBC as being "unsuitable for people of a nervous disposition" when released on the Parlophone label in 1961, but rose to #50 on the UK singles chart.

The original multicoloured striped Parlophone/EMI 7" sleeve is undamaged apart from age-related handling and storage. Graded as VG+

The vinyl easily and conservatively grades as EX.  It has been played many times but there is no deterioration in sound quality. The red Parlophone labels are clean and undamaged. There are no obvious scratches that can be felt. There are numerous hairlines as would be normal for a single of this vintage. On play grading there was naturally a small amount of crackle on the run in and run out on both sides but nothing else detrimental. The surface is still clean and retains a little gloss. A very nice copy.
