Wayne Shorter Featuring Milton Nascimento – Native Dancer 1975 US Columbia Jazz, Latin, Fusion
Wayne Shorter was an American jazz saxophonist, composer and bandleader. Shorter came to mainstream prominence in 1959 upon joining Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, for whom he eventually became the primary composer. In 1964 he joined Miles Davis' Second Great Quintet, and then co-founded the jazz fusion band Weather Report in 1970. He recorded more than 20 albums as a bandleader one of which is 'Native Dancer' featuring Milton Nascimento. The album features some of his most acclaimed compositions. It is notable for blending jazz, rock and funk elements with Brazilian rhythms in an attempt to create "world" music broadly accessible to people from many different cultures. Many American musicians have mentioned being influenced by the album, including bassist Esperanza Spalding, drummer Chester Thompson and vocalist Maurice White of Earth, Wind, and Fire.
The custom printed unlaminated card sleeve would certainly conservatively grade as EX-. It shows minimal signs of handling and storage wear (corner rubbing and bumping) with little ring and minimal edge wear. The spine is readable and the entry edge shows minimal signs of use. It does have a small mark on the front below the word 'Milton.' The word Columbia on the spine is covered with a yellow CBS sticker.
The original blue printed 'credits' paper inner is damaged in that it has splits along two seams. Grades as fair only.
The vinyl is without doubt EX- and has not been played much - if at all. The Columbia labels are unmarked apart from a hint of a spindle mark. They do have 1cm circular stickers covering the Columbia name. Despite the fact that the vinyl has light scuffs on both sides, on play grading, there was only a little light crackle on the run in on both sides but nothing substantial, maybe a rare pop or click (certainly nothing to spoil the enjoyment of the record - even at high volume), during the remainder of the album. It plays superbly with very strong audio. Apart from the scuffs that have been mentioned, the surface is very clean, glossy and shiny.
