Simon Jeffes - Performed By Members Of The Penguin Café Orchestra – Music From The Penguin Café, UK 1976 Obscure, Classical, Contemporary - Signed?

Simon Harry Piers Jeffes was a British composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist who was the founder of the Penguin Café Quartet, which became the Penguin Café Orchestra at a later stage. 'Music from the Penguin Cafe' is the first studio album by the Penguin Cafe Orchestra. It was recorded between 1974 and 1976, and released in 1976. The artist credited for the work varies with different issues. Upon the original issue, the label credited the artist as Simon Jeffes, while the cover gave the artist as "members of the Penguin Café Orchestra".

The custom printed unlaminated card sleeve would certainly conservatively grade as EX- despite the fact that a very small piece (maybe 2mmX2mm) of the black surface is missing (see pictures). It shows signs of handling but only minimal storage wear and corner rubbing, bumping with a little ring and edge wear (particularly at the bottom). The spine is readable and the entry edge shows minimal signs of use. On the rear it has been signed (see pictures) 'with ........ Today . November 23 1976  Simon.' It is not possible to authenticate this.
The original paper inner is undamaged apart from a little age related discolouration. Graded as EX+
The vinyl is without doubt EX and has not been played much. The Obscure labels are unmarked apart from one or two spindle marks. On play grading there was a little light noise on the run in on both sides but nothing substantial during the remainder of the album - maybe a pop or click (noticeable at the very beginning of Track 1, Side 1) but nothing to spoil the enjoyment of the record - even at high volume. It plays superbly with very strong audio. The surface is very clean, glossy and shiny with no noticeable marks apart from the odd fingerprint, a nice copy that conservatively grades as EX.

The Matrix numbers are believed to be
Matrix / Runout (Runout A, hand-etched): A Porky Prime Cut I-5 OBS 7 A2 - - GLOAT! EG Matrix / Runout (Runout B, hand-etched): I-5 OBS 7 B2 - - EG
An opportunity to acquire a fairly rare album in great condition overall.
