For sale is this pristine vintage vinyl LP of JOHN COLTRANE - A LOVE SUPREME on Impulse Records. This beautiful copy is the 1976 U.K. Stereo Re-issue in full gatefold sleeve. The catalogue number is Impulse IMPL 8001. Parts of the matrices have been struck-through; possibly the disc was manufactured using earlier lacquers? The matrices as they appear on the disc are as follows:
Side One - AS 77 A-1G IMPL 8001 A1-G Side Two - AS 77 B-2G IMPL 8001 B2-G
Condition*: The sleeve is EX. But for a small area of foxing at the base of the centrefold inside the gatefold it would be graded near mint. It is very clean with almost no wear or creasing. Overall a really superb sleeve.
The disc is conservatively graded EX. The surface is a lustrous black, clean and with few signs of play. Under harsh light there are very few marks of any kind. The record has been played through from start to finish and plays without fault. The mastering of this pressing is wonderfully clear and bright and this copy has almost no crackle. Overall a stunning copy of this sought-after Coltrane record.
Thanks for looking If this item interests you why not have a look at my other listings? This record is one of a number I was lucky to acquire recently, all from the archive of a single fastidious collector, many of which I will be listing in the coming days taking in Jazz, Blues and Folk including more John Coltrane, Miles Davis and others and several stunning rare 1st Pressings. Please feel free to make use of the "MAKE OFFER" button - I won't mind at all.
*Please note: Grading vinyl is a highly subjective thing. I am not a professional. I am just selling a small number of records. I can only give an honest appraisal based on careful visual inspection and thorough play testing. I do try to describe all significant faults and I certainly won't intentionally hide anything. Please read the description carefully, look at the pictures and make your own mind up. The grading scale I have used goes from G to NM with VG+ as par. In other words: Good (G), Very Good (VG), Very Good+ (VG+), Excellent (EX) and Near Mint (NM). Anything better than that would be Mint and would be listed as new. Anything worse than Good I probably wouldn't be selling.
