THE BEATLESÂ - ANTHOLOGY 1. The Catalogue Number is PCSP 727, and this reached Number 2 in the UK Chart (have Guinness Hit Singles & Albums Book as reference for this). The Matrix Numbers on this end in 1, suggesting to me that it was the First Pressing/Edition, assuming what I've read about Matrix Numbers is correct. Here are all 6:
8344461 - A - 12 - 1 - 1
8344461 - B - 1 - 1 - 1
8344471 - A - 04 - 01 - 1
8344471 - B - 03 - 01 - 2 (last Number not fully embossed, more a light marking)
8362341 - A - 1 - 1 - 1
8362341 - B - 1 - 1 - 2 (again, last Number not fully embossed, more a light marking)
Also on that last one the first "1" looks like it has been embossed on top of a "2".
I find Matrix Numbers a difficulty at times on here, but all the above is what I am seeing on the 6 records.
On this Album is the famous recording from the Prince Of Wales Theatre on 4th November 1963, when, just before they sing Twist And Shout, John says his famous "...rattle yer jewellery" quote! Fab, indeed!
These play well (I "cleaned" it only with a record cloth before playing, as always), with no jumps or disruptive scratches (my ear disappointingly picked up one tick on I Want To Hold Your Hand on Side 5) so would only like to call it "VG+". For me, the Sleeve is also "VG+" as there is a bit of a "rip" above pic of Paul McCartney (please see Images). Still however, Fab-4-ulous!
Having recently put all my Records in order, I've started to play through them for the first time in nearly 30 years (in this case) - very enjoyable so far - but with space having to be freed up now (I have this Album in a different format now), this is the 38th of 366 Artist L.P.'s which I bought (am keeping 23 of them so far), with a further 40 Comedy or Compilation L.P.'s.
Please feel free to ask anything.
Many thanks, Scott.
