As always, I will admit to being a vinyl fanatic and have been collecting albums since the 60s. Many of my albums are therefore original pressings or early releases. In the case of The Doors seminal first album, I am now selling the first copy I bought in 1968, following the initial release in 1967, as I have now replaced the album three times over the years, including the 45rpm double album. For any potential buyer I always endeavour to provide as much information as possible in the interest of both parties to avoid any misunderstanding. If you have any questions please contact me through eBay.

Listed by Discogs as an original UK pressing made in Gt. Britain Polydor Records Limited and credits on each side. Engineer Bruce Botnick, Producer Paul A. Rothchild.

This is still a rare copy of the much sought after mono version of this iconic album. These early recordings do not suffer from the later reverb and spatial artificiality of the stereo release. It is my intention to provide a thorough and honest assessment of the quality of the album and the cover. The cover is in excellent condition with a well preserved spine. To confirm provenance I have a label on the cover with my name on it that would be difficult to remove but does not detract from the quality of the original cover. The original inner sleeve is included but I have replaced it with a modern, protective cover to look after the vinyl.

In every case I will always play grade the album to determine the quality of the vinyl. Side One plays throughout with no scratches, pops or clicks and a low level of surface noise for a mono recording and I grade this as EX. Side Two has a minor pop at the start of End of the Night and there is some surface noise during the quieter passages of The End, resulting in a grading of VG+ to EX overall. The album is more susceptible to surface noise due to the mono recording techniques being used.

In essence, this is a true collector’s album that has been looked after by me from initial purchase. Thank you for looking. Please see my other listings as I continue to offer albums from my collection for sale. Please see photos for further proof of provenance.
