Germaine Montero, stage name of Germaine Berthe Caroline Heygel, born October 22, 1909 in Paris and died June 29, 2000 in Orange, is a French actress and singer.
Biography
Germaine Montero was born in 1909 in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, from an Alsatian father and a Norman mother. In 1932, she made her debut as an actress in Madrid playing Federico Garcia Lorca. Returning to France in 1938 following the Spanish Civil War, she performed at the Jean Anouilh, Garcia Lorca, and Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage theaters, which she later performed at the Théâtre National Populaire. At the same time, she began to sing Spanish folklore at the cabaret “Chez Agnès Capri”. In 1941-1942, she performed in cabarets in the free zone (Nice, Cannes, Marseille), took part in radio soap operas and went to the "Chez Gilles" cabaret in Lausanne, where she made a few recordings. In 1945, back in Paris, she gave a recital at the Athénée theater and returned to the cabarets. With Jean Vilar, she took part in the first Avignon festivals from 1947 to 1949, alongside Gérard Philipe and Jeanne Moreau.
She is known for her dramatic roles in the theater (notably with Jean Vilar), among others in Noces de sang, Yerma or La Maison de Bernarda Alba by Federico Garcia Lorca, a Spanish poet and playwright whom she made known in France.
At the same time, she sings and records Jacques Prévert, Aristide Bruant, the songs of Mother Courage. She interprets Chansons pour accordion by Pierre Mac Orlan, who considers her to be his best interpreter, Léo Ferré, Béranger. She also sings in Spanish, notably her remarkable interpretations of folk songs collected by Federico Garcia Lorca. His disc Paseando por Espana won the Grand Prix du Disque in 1953.
Little present at the cabaret, Germaine Montero devotes herself to the radio, to the theater, and turns in some films. She went to the Olympia in 1956 and won the Charles-Cros Academy Grand Prix in 1970.
Germaine Montero died in Orange on June 29, 20001. Married to filmmaker Jean-Mario Bertschy, she was buried with him in the Montrouge cemetery2.

A Quick NOTE ON GRADING AND SHIPPING:
As you can see from my feedback, I try hard to earn your POSITIVE FEEDBACK and FIVE STAR RATINGS.
If for any reason your transaction was NOT SATISFACTORY, pls contact me and I will work something out with you. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A REASON TO GIVE ME A NEGATIVE RATING or a LOW STAR RATING.
Quick note on grading:
The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately
When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"EXCEPTIONALLY QUIET" is close to noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an above average quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example with some noise.
These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.
