My Record Grading based on the Fifth Edition of the Goldmine Price Guide to Collectible Record Albums and are as follows:
MINT. A Mint (M) record is perfect; No scuffs or scratches, blotches or stains, labels or writing, tears or splits; A cover with no ring wear, dog eared corners, writing, seam splits.
NEAR MINT. A Near Mint (NM) record is otherwise mint may have one or two tiny scuffs or scratches, tiny blotches or stains, tiny labels or writing, OR tiny tears or splits; A cover may have minor wear, slight ring wear, minor denting to a corner, writing on the cover.
VERY GOOD. A Very Good (VG) record will display visible signs of handling and playing, loss of vinyl luster, light surface scratches, groove wear, center spindle trails, visible evidence that will affect the play. A cover have a small combination of ring wear, seam splits, bent corners, loss of gloss, stains, stickers, label residue.
GOOD. A Good (G) record will display accessive visible signs of handling and playing, accessive loss of vinyl luster, accessive surface scratches, groove wear, center spindle trails, visible evidence that will affect the play accessively, including ticks and skips. A cover have a small combination of ring wear, seam splits, bent corners, dog eared corners, loss of gloss, stains, stickers, label residue, tape, tears and splits.
POOR. A Poor (P) record will display any combination of the above grades and possibly unplayable in its present condition. It may have cracks and gouges, large scratches, anything that will deem it as unplayable. A cover will have any combination of the above grades up to a split in two cover.
