THESE THINGS ARE MAKING MONEY FOR ME OFFLINE AT RECORD SHOWS, SO THIS IS THE LAST TIME I'M RUNNING THIS AUCTION.

Brief history: These all come direct from the defunct African Music Gallery, a specialty record store that operated in Washington, D.C. in the 1980s. Another Man's Vinyl has located its leftovers, and is now offering up this small sampler lot for eBay buyers. These records were never sealed, come direct from France, and were never sold.

The jackets show some wear, mainly in the form of small seam creases and/or cover laminate peeling. Covers get a "VG" grade, as a result. The vinyl, on the other hand, remains pristine, spotless, shiny and free of background noise. They all play like brand new, despite their 1980s origins. Grades of "NM" apply to each.

These are awesome sounds from Africa, and rare. All are in the soukous/rumba style, a contemporary guitar-based popular music most akin to Caribbean reggae and soca. Although it has to be noted that 'Saba Saba Fighting' by Mushapata crosses all genre boundaries, and even has a hint of Can-style Kraut motorik at times. (I swear it does!) And with a horn section mixed with guitars, some of the Mushapata LP ventures close to jazz-rock ska/fusion territory. It is friggin' luxurious.

Some people are asking $20 per title -- I saw someone asking $45 for 'Saba Saba' -- on other sites. But I have so many copies, you get the bulk discount.

For fans of Paul Simon's "Graceland," or David Byrne's pan-global solo music, Grateful Dead heads into long grooves and jammy chants, reggae rastafarians into blissy tropical rhythms, or modern internet hipsters digging Vampire Weekend ... these will will work for you, guaranteed!

SHIPPING & GRADING

I use media mail to reduce your costs, and shipping costs are factored into the opening bid.
I use LP mailers and pack carefully.
I ship within 24 hours of payment.

I don’t up-grade my records to make more money. I try to grade accurately, but of course my opinion is subjective.
Nevertheless, 9 times out of 10, VG++ is as high as you’ll see me go.

(Cover / Vinyl), using the following scale:

          Good / VG- / VG / VG+ / VG++ / NM* / Mint**
            * I reserve NM for records in opened shrinkwrap, or sealed items with slight wear
          ** Mint is a rare honor reserved for sealed items in pristine “like new” condition

Thank you for your interest, and be sure to check out my other lots. Might be something you like!
