Here on offer is, without a shadow of a doubt, a simply AWESOME set of recordings from the legendary Chicago Blues master of the harmonica; SONNY BOY WILLIAMSON II (aka Aleck "Rice" Miller)!!!    The 'Grand Vizir of The Blues' is accompanied by MATT 'GUITAR' MURPHY (guitar...!), MEMPHIS SLIM (piano) and BILLY STEPNEY (drums).

This incredible, 50 year-old gem came from the collection of the late CHARLES FOX; a Jazz critic who for many years lodged at the house of the legendary ALEXIS KORNER. So, whilst there is no way of knowing for sure, it is perfectly plausible that this disc was once owned by Alexis and then subsequently found its way into one of Charles' boxes by mistake??? Who knows......

As you'll see from the photo, this is unconditionally guaranteed to be the ORIGINAL 1964 UK 1st pressing made with machine-stamped matrices, so you can forget about having to settle for one of those dodgy so-called "limited re-pressings" (many of which are actually bootlegs) that are flooding the market.

 

A TRULY fantastic and legendary LP, any fan of Sonny Boy Williamson, Blues, R&B or 60s music in general will simply have to have this item in their collection!!!!

 

Grade (labels): The classic white textured labels with grey print are in AWESOME condition; there is NO wear and NO obvious spindle trails!!!

Grade (vinyl): Housed within its original die-cut paper inner bag, this heavy hunk of magnificent vinyl is absolutely stunning and strictly graded at MINT and shows no signs of play!!!  Sitting perfectly flat on the turntable, the deep-grooved platter has a high-gloss mirror-like appearance and plays wonderfully loud and clear throughout. Of course, with the hyper-sensitivity of modern styli and amplifiers, any lucky winning bidder would need to accept the likelihood of a 50 year-old hunk of used vinyl producing a touch of general noise and static here and there.  Good luck in finding another one of these nuggets......... they just do NOT turn up in this shape!!!!

 

Grade (sleeve): Incredible....simply INCREDIBLE!!!  Storyville sleeves are fully laminated, but notorously thin.  So, to find one like this is magnificient MINT shape is quite something to behold!  The front in gorgeous and the back, complete with flipbacks and sleeve notes from legendary Blues historian PAUL OLIVER, is similarly awesome - hard to imagine ever finding a better example!!!
