‘BEYOND THE SILVER SEA’ is the amazing new phase sci-fi concept album by Glasgow band ‘DR COSMO’S TAPE LAB’.
DR COSMO’S TAPE LAB was hatched in 2013 through the timely match-up of Psych Pop masters JOE KANE (Them Beatles, The Owsley Sunshine) and STUART KIDD (BMX Bandits, The Wellgreen).
Much, much more than your workaday Psych album, ‘BEYOND THE SILVER SEA’ is an immersive pop experience that takes the listener on a sojourn from the push-button tumult of an imminent technopolis, through a labyrinthine subculture of promise and deception and onto the very limits of the unknown infinite, finding time for a detour into mid- 20th century London for the best pie mash and liquor in the omniverse!
Each of the 12 songs on the album evokes in technicolour power-pop clarity a vista or character from its narrative, elucidated by a narration underpinned by otherworldly blips and tones. The cumulative effect is a mesmeric sound-world that summons the audacious spirit of Silver Age sci-fi and stands favourable comparisons with the original Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy radio programme. Incorporating the best of classic British Pop from the Kinks to the Small Faces this is  a work that will intrigue, captivate and reward listeners time and again. Out only on vinyl (with no CD release and no download release as yet) this album is another classic in the catalogue of great releases on our label. Limited to only 300 copies on grey vinyl this is sure to be a collector’s item.
