Gravity Zero is a full blast of real Psychedelic and Acid Rock and a colourful trip into the depths of your own mind.

Germany psychedelic rock band, Vibravoid returns with yet another studio record. The band is really one a roll these days putting out something new every couple of months, be it a 7”, compilation tracks, live albums, etc.( ) Really heavy psych! Anyway, the album starts off with an amazing song called "Gravitation Zero". It is over 13mins and starts very spaced out with strange voices, sounds, and then at 1½ mins really starts the trip. They even incorporate these strange 13th Floor Elevator gurgles and a other stuff. "No Silver Bird" is a cover song that was on a compilation album. "Photosynthesis In Darkness" is a short 3 min track and delivered in a very similar rhythm and vocals style as several Vibravoid tracks in the past and does not really seem very new but more the same but it has a very cool heavy fuzz bass and is quite psychedelic. "Travelling Without Moving" is 1½mins of organ and spacey sounds like something off Ummagumma. Eruptions of the Green Sun is a more 60s style happy track that the band does so well. "Shotgun Wedding" (Eddie Cochran) follows. "Get Out Of  Here" has a pretty extreme reverberation on the guitar giving it a freaky sound. Nice psychedelic effects on the voice. "The White Ship" (HP Lovecraft) is next. "Brainplane" is pretty tripped out stuff. ( ) Vibravoid manage to create really amazing “head” music with the right sound production, catchy hooks but not too many, and great space outs… What more can a psychedelic music freak want.(Scott aka. Na, ihr Jungspunde? Wollt ihr mal wissen, wie das war, als wir damals, vor über vier Jahrzehnten, in muffigen Kifferhöhlen endlos gejammt haben? Oder wie es war, anno '67 verzückt den ersten Auftritten von Pink Floyd im Londoner UFO-Club zu lauschen und von bis dato unerhörten Klängen in die Weiten des Kosmos getragen zu werden? ( ).
Vom ersten Ton an geht es auf Zeitreise in die späten 60er, als die Rockmusik zu neuen Ufern aufbrach. Gitarren, die endlos psychedelisch solieren, aber auch hardrockig riffen, seltsame elektronische Geräusche, dazu ein fast alle Songs durchwehender indischer Hauch, hervorgebracht durch den dezenten, aber effektvollen Einsatz von Tablas (oder sonstiger indischer Schlaginstrumente) und gelegentliche Star-Einsätze. Der Gesang kommt standesgemäß durchweg leicht verfremdet daher und verstärkt noch den überweltlichen Eindruck. Eigentlich erinnert das sogar mehr an die Ur-Spacerocker Hawkwind als an die frühen Floyd.
Gleich der einleitende Titeltrack ist ein echtes kosmisches Monster, das einen in die fernsten Galaxien katapultiert. Endlos übereinander geschichtete Gitarren und die treibenden, genretypisch eher monotonen Rhythmen lassen den Hörer die irdische Schwerkraft rasch überwinden. Die folgenden Stücke sind deutlich kürzer, behalten aber die bewährte Mixtur bei. Dazwischen darf's auch mal eine kurze psychedelische Freiformsequenz sein (Travelling without moving - eine passende Beschreibung für das ganze Album), und mit The White Ship gibt's auch eine ruhigere, schwebende Nummer.( ) Gravity Zero bietet einen wunderbaren Nostalgietrip in die Frühzeit psychedelischer Rockmusik. Musikalische Neuerungen finden freilich woanders statt, aber mal für eine Stunde abheben ist ja auch was! (Jochen Rindfrey/babyblaue-seiten.de)
